dead mouse fixed

After years of good service, can't remember exactly how long, could be almost 10 years or so, from one moment to the other mousebutton1 hardly responded anymore and the mouse seemed dead. Had noticed sometimes the button wouldn't click well, but thought that was me not pressing the button hard enough.

I opened the mouse and after messing around a bit I found the switch had dented the plastic of the mousebutton so much it could not function anymore. I made pictures to show, otherwise I can't explain it very well... :

Next pic shows the underside of the mouses topcap and mousebutton1 with the dent in the plastic cap that presses the switch when clicking the mouse.

All those years of fisting really made a dent as you can see... 


To fix it I cut a piece of hard plastic to size, sandpapered it down to the correct thickness and glued that on the cap.
I did this for both mousebuttons cause the other was slightly dented also. :





Fortunately the mouse works fine again and I don't have to buy a new one yet...

Handy to know if my mouse button goes funny.

While fixing the mouse I got the idea it could be possible to make the mouse extra touch sensitive by using thicker plastic.

But my goal was to first get the mouse repaired, and then maybe try the above later.
