I bought a KISS fc and KISS 24A ESC's to put on my latest quad.
Wanted to buy this flightcontroller before, but it seemed too difficult because I had not much experience soldering. Now after building 2 quads I think I practised enough to try solder a bit more advanced stuff. And also very helpful that the past few months a lot of KISS building tutorials appeared on youtube.
Waiting for all the parts to arrive.

Just received the awesome stuff, and it is supertiny. Now waiting for the frame and pdb to arrive from China, then I can start building.
Can't wait to start flying with the KISS gear. Very curious how much better it is compared to the cheap cc3d flightcontrollers I've been using so far.

It looks great and from what I`ve seen it flys super responsively.

Most of the awesome acro videos on youtube are done with the KISS fc. Can almost recognize the supersmooth and responsive style of flying. Only sometimes it appears to be another brand high-end flightcontroller, but mostly it is KISS.
Also had to buy the KISS ESC's, could have used different ones, but wanted to be sure there are no compatibility issues and that I got the best possible flying experience. Plus the KISS ESC's come preconfigured, no need to mess with settings in BLHeliSuite.

jay Got the quad complete. The last parts arrived from China.
Now I only need to get a new actioncamera, the previous one is broken after many crashes. Though it may just be a dead battery, cause it still works as webcam when it's on a USB cable. Bought the cheapest I could find, I knew it probably wouldn't last long, I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did.
Will be looking for bit more quality camera this time, maybe something like a GoPro Hero Session. I'm getting a lot better at flying, so investing in a good camera is less waste of money.

I think once you get proficient at flying a decent camera is essential to record your expert flying displays a relive the glory days.

It is also good to look back for learning from mistakes and awesome moves.
Been flying on that one field mostly so not a big problem to fly without camera, also gives more battery time due to less weight. But it is nicer to record once I start going to other places. And indeed, those videos are all that's left when the batteries are empty. Like driving a car, when busy with flying, you don't really have time to relax and enjoy the view.

Finally got the build working. Not finished yet, but getting there.
Had a broken ESC. A sharp corner of the ESC had punched a tiny hole in the shrinkwrap right at the point the +solderpad made contact with the carbonfiber frame. The LED on the ESC stayed off no matter what I tried, and I had to buy a new one.
Next I need to tidy up the wires and flash the ESC's to the latest firmware so I can use Dshot. After that it's pretty much ready to fly.

That's not an easy question to answer. Do you mean a fpv quad, or a Dji-like drone to make videos and photos? I could name one of the cheaper brands, but that often means the quad easily breaks, camera is lowquality, short flighttime. Actually it's really difficult to name a good midrange priced quad for a beginner. It would be easier if you already had fpvgoggles and a radiotransmitter, then there is plenty of choice.
Best thing you can do is look around on a site like Banggood.com, and search youtube for reviews before deciding. Once you found a good one, try find it closer to home or order it from China(dont forget you may need to pay extra tax when importing goods from outside UK)
Tip: Don't buy a quad that has brushed motors, they quickly wear down and burn out. Brushless motors are much more durable and can handle a few crashes.

Finished building the KISS quad today. Flashed the ESC's with the Dshot firmware and tidied up a few wires. I have not flown with it yet, but everything works good so far.

It certainly was not cheap. Excluding the actioncamera and Li-Po battery. Total cost is around 320 Euro. If you would use cheap motors, flightcontroller and ESC's, it could cost about half. Last year I started with cheap stuff and found that it is quite strong, even after dozens of crashes it still works good. That's why I decided to go ahead and spend a bit more in quality parts to see how much better it flies. Worst case 1 or 2 parts get broken in a crash, which won't be as expensive as a whole new quad. Already had a Taranis (220Euro), goggles (+/_300Euro(200secondhand)), and a collection of batteries(about 20Euro each)

Looking good. Are you going to look for something bigger now?
Would be more practical for filming if you could see the image live, on your phone for example.

Cool!
Being able to change te batteries is a nice feature, most cheap quads have the battery build in. Can you charge the batteries all at once, or do you need to charge them seperately?

That's good, wouldn't want to have to charge all 5 seperate each time. I did that when I just got my first quad, the charger could only do 1 battery at a time. 1,5-2 hrs each, meant checking on the charger whole day long.
Is the quad small enough to fly inside the house a bit?

heh its like 6 inches wide so perfect for flying indoors..quite amazing how high it can go outdoors though

You got stuck to the ceiling there for a moment. Got some spare propellers in case these get damaged?
That flying inside looks so fun, I'm almost jealous. Think I'll have to get such a small one for myself now, specially since the weather atm is often too shit to fly outside. All my quads are much too powerfull and heavy to fly inside, even the 130 sized one.
One as small as the QX90 would be awesome, I could fly it with the Taranis and goggles:
Though the motors probably dont last very long, spare motors are cheap and easy to replace. But I am still considering if maybe one like the Tinywhoop or similar model would be better because of the protective airducts.

That was pretty high.
Better crash it where you can still see it yes, and preferably not in the neighbours yard. You got lucky this time.
