Not only did they sell out to facebook. They sold the oculus for a bargain. 400 million cash and 1,6 billion shares. Sad day for the oculus, which should now be called facecullus. I think worldwide they could have easily sold well over 10 million oculus units at 200 dollar each, instantly become global leader in the VR market, and made more money in the long term.

This all makes me think there is more to it, something like mucky implied. A deal this large can not have come up out of thin air. Big chance that all oculus sensor-input will end up in facebook datacenters.

Probably also means that the oculus is very close to it's final stage of production.
