Was looking into this PS VR headset. It's only €400, though I would need to take a loan to buy it. Don't really want to buy a Playstation and games, so I searched to see if the headset could work on PC. Which apparently it can, but only problem was that headtracking wasn't supported in games. I almost gave up the idea of wanting to buy this VR headset, and then I found this tool that somebody made:
Now I am very much considering if I should try it. According to the reviews it is awesome, but the headset is quite fragile. I could wait for the next models and prices to go down, but I've been waiting for VRso long now, I almost can't wait...
(still thinking about buying or not, but I already downloaded the tool, just in case this guy is forced to take it down)

Piss taking about what? Too bad he doesn't show any of the VR stuff on his channel.
Still thinking what to do. I imagine it will be hard to play my normal games with it, because I need the keyboard to use my binds. But games like Trackmania racing for instance would be superawesome.
hmmmmmm

Maybe it's like sculpting clay or stone. Or maybe even like when you need a piece of wood, select wood, use a saw to cut to size. Select hammer and nails, hammer it into place. Want a hallway, build it from bricks, or use a pickaxe to dig a cave. Hmmm is there not already a game that does this.
Found out it can be tricky to get some games running properly, specially games that don't support vr originally. But it can be done. I won't be able to use the headset directly out of the box, need to look into things first. Still I think I'm going to buy it, even though I probably not going to use it as much as I would have 20 years ago. I just want to try out this vr experience so much, I've been waiting for this shit since that movie Lawnmowerman(1992).

I had to do it, I ordered a PS VR headset.
Will be using it on pc so I need to figure out some stuff to get it working. And I may need to upgrade my pc for this, but will see.

My PS VR headset has arrived!
Received it end of the day, so not tried it out yet. Probably will be trying tomorrow. Too bad I have no Playstation, otherwise I would have hooked it up immediately.
First impression when I got it out of the box was it looks quite big and heavy. But when wearing it's very comfortable, felt light and balanced. The plastic appears thin and bendy, but still strong enough to not break.
Almost can't wait, but it's better to figure this out during the day.

Looking good so far. Got the headset hooked up to the pc running as second screen at 120hz. But atm only in cinema-mode which is like looking at a large cinema screen. Still working to get the VR enabled.

It works! at least for games that run via SteamVR. Can get it to work for nonSteam games also, but then I need to buy some softwaretool, which costs about $40.
The VR part is pretty awesome, though only seen a simple tutorial demo in Steam so far. And a little bit Trackmania, but that was not through Steam, so had slight trouble with imagedistortion. But the little of the game I did see ran smooth and really looked 3D-ish.
It's not perfect yet, still need to figure a few things out and do some tweaking, but I'm definitely not sending it back.

Great that you got it working. Once you get it all sorted properly it should be awesome and then I will want it also

Well I didn't realise at the time I wrote it works, but it only works half yet.
For some reason the sound does not work. Apparently it is a common thing, even for Playstation users. This is the first I'm going to try and fix.
There's some other things, like switching between displays can be a hassle, controls can be a bit off (only tried Vive stuff on Steam with PS gear, that may explain). The headset needs calibration often. And also on PC there is no menu like the playstation has to adjust settings for the headset.
The good part is the VR that did work looks very nice. Downloaded a simple rollercoaster VR demo, and it really looks like you're somewhere else. And flying feels a bit like flying, though you know your not moving.
Hardly seen it working yet, but it is so much fun, would hate to have to send it back. If I can't get it to work properly on the PC, I'm considering to buy a playstation. Only thing I don't like, is for headtracking to work on playstation you must buy an addon camera system that's placed on top of the monitor.
Unless I can sort out the little issues I have now, maybe it's better to wait a bit for the Vive or Oculus, which are meant for use on PC.

Found out that the sound does work, but it gets disabled as soon as I turn on the TrinusPSVR tool, that is needed to make the headset PC compatible.
It is a demo and has a timelimit, after 20minutes or so the program shuts down. The tool is for sale, only €9. It's possible the sound disabling is because it's a demo, but there is no description other then it has a timelimit. It does not mention sound is disabled for demo purpose.
Think I'll have to buy the tool to find out. I will need it anyway once I do solve the soundproblem.

Had enough, The headset is back in the box it came in, and will be returned.
Not going to buy the tool, or a Playstation. It should have worked on the PC, which it does but it's not fully compatible like supposed to. Could be my soundcard not being compatible, maybe wrong Windows version. Whatever, it is not fun anymore. Rather send this one back now, and wait a few months till the Vive or Oculus becomes more available. Preferably the Vive cause that one has a build-in tracking system.
Main reason for not buying a Playstation is the stupid camera VR tracking system. Don't like the idea of being recorded while playing, and leaving it on the tv when not playing makes me paranoid.
Also when it comes to using the headset, even if it works as intended and all is fine, there still is 1 big downside to the PS VR. Inside the goggles, the sides of the space between the LEDscreens and frontlenses is dark grey cheap plastic which is matte, but still a little too shiny. This is very distractive when light reflects of it.
Was nice to see and try a bit, but really need a PC compatible headset.

Yes it is a pity. But not for long, going to try a Vive as soon as possible.
Had to decide quickly whether to keep messing about and end up spending more on a gamesystem I don't need, plus eventually buying another headset for PC anyway. Total cost for playstation plus VR games would end up costing more then a Vive.
Another negative thing about the PS VR was that you can only use earbuds, bigger headphones don't fit because of the large plastic ring/headsupport.
I'm fine with it, at least I've seen how VR looks these days, and the little bit I've seen was pretty awesome.

Would have been a great cheap solution, just had to try it.
Now considering if I'm going for a Vive now, or wait a few months for prices to drop. If prices go down the same speed as with GFX cards it will be lot cheaper in 3 months or so.
