I remember hearing about that deathray to kill the pilot in a documentary long ago. This technology was developed ages ago, imagine how advanced it must be by now.

I remember that pilot thing aswell...i think it was that docu with David Sereda talking to the guy that worked at skunkwerkz, could be wrong though.

It was in the time Discovery channel still had proper documentaries, so quite some time ago. Don't know much details, other than that they did show a demonstration of the deathray technology on a real target.
