http://www.extremetech.com/computing/191279-why-is-it-called-windows-10-not-windows-9 I'm only going to install it if necessary or if there's a drastic perfomance improvement. Didn't watch the whole thing, just pieces, but the video looks to be more marketing the 'Windows' concept, then really showing big changes.

| I have tried the beta version of Windows 10 on a virtual pc (VMware) and I have to say I really like it, much better than 8 BUT if you have 7 im not sure unless you have touch screen. I have heard that you cannot control the auto updates they just auto install with no way to stop them, this is a big negative in my books.

| 8 was just horrible, 8.1 fixed a lot of issues but it's still a bit weird in places, I had to get used to 8.1 at work and quickly grew to like it a lot and now use it at home too. 10 looks pretty good but worth leaving it a few months to see how people are getting on with it. The "get windows 10" thing that will appear on your taskbar anytime soon is an optional upgrade registration. They're not forcing it on anyone. | |

Pretty sure that you can still disable the autoupdate by stopping the service manually as administrator in the windows services list. Would be strange if not so.
