Angkor Wat, as mysterious as the pyramids in Egypt.
Hard to imagine how awesome it once must have looked before the stones got weathered and damaged.

This place is so amazing,it really does make you wonder how people that long ago could build stuff like this,it must of taken hundreds of years to do the carvings alone after the building work was done.

Unless it was a highly advanced civilization, I cant believe this and other temples like this are made by human hands. Also the amount of carvings and the precision, with apparently no errors, seems impossible to do with hammer and chisel. Even if people did have the capability to work this flawless, there had to be bad stones with cracks and weak points. They had to have some kind computer controlled laser cutting device, or another unknown technique to do all this stone work.
I also noticed that parts of the structure looks molten, like an entire piece of wall went soft from intense heat. And a lot of the stones throughout the entire complex look partly molten too, not just simply worn down by rain and wind.
Interesting to note that the builders used the same style for stacking stones as seen in many of the megalithic structures in Peru and such.

I read a post on ATS yesterday about a plant that the Inca used to soften rocks to make them easy to shape and join together...maybe they used same thing in Cambodia ?

I've heard about the plant theory, and it could be possible perhaps for smaller blocks. But considering the size of many of those megalithic blocks and structures I'm not sure.
Here's another possibility, and it does seem to work. Only thing I wonder is how then did they make the detailed casting molds? And where are the molds now, did they ever find any at all? Also if molten rock was used, where are the casting seams?

Interesting story, shows how clever birds really can be.
While reading I remembered there is this rock calciumcarbonate which dissolves into clay when coming in contact with water. Think the rock those birds make holes in has a high content of calciumcarbonate, and they found out it goes soft when made wet with plant sap. Probably not the plant that is special, other than that it contains a lot of water.Very clever the birds discovered this and use it to make nests. There is a possibility this technique was used by ancient people, but they still had to have a form of advanced technology to shape the stones with such precision and make the carvings as seen in Angkor Wat and Egypt etc.
