The video does have some useful tips. But I certainly would not recommend using acro from the start.
It's true that autoleveling gets in the way at some point. The quad wants to straighten out, when making a sharp turn, so then you're struggling with the accelerometer to keep your angle.
But for a beginner it is too confusing to go acro right away, just handling all the gear and stuff, setting up the quad, goggles, arm and throttle up, and steering to keep the quad going. If you're not comfortable doing those things, it really is better to use autolevel first couple of times.
