France celebrates Bastille Day with parade vs protest

So strange this all happened on the same day on the same street with the Arc de Triomphe right in the middle.  
On one side there's the leaders of the EU celebrating and having their military parade,
and on the other side there's a crowd of 1000s of protesters, who are constantly being gassed and attacked by the police.

First video was deleted by the user, so I replaced that with a video of the full ceremony. Also a short one that shows who were present.

I watched the protests during that day, but had absolutely no idea of the military parade on the other side of the Arc.
The contrast is really weird watching both videos and knowing that all played out so close to each other on the same street.

It is amusing to me that they voted Macron into power instead of LePenn and
now they are unhappy with him and want him out 
Everyone knew he was for the rich and against the poor but still
voted for him.
